Water Rock Golf Course
Opened in 1994, this high quality sand based greens course set in the beautiful surroundings on the banks of the Owenacurra River brings varying challenges for all caliber of golfer. The course lies in the hinterland of beautiful East Cork, 15 mins drive from Cork city and sits in close proximity to some of the great golf courses in Southern Ireland. The layout is fair yet strategic – rewarding the brave while also providing wide bailout areas. Several scoring opportunities exist on the neat and alluring front nine but should not lead to complacency! The acclaimed back nine at Water Rock, where water comes into play during no less than five holes, is a real test of character and golfing ability.
The 18 holes, par 70, 6220 yard course includes 5 par threes and 3 par fives. The signature hole is the Par 3 on the 12th, 240 yards from the back tee and known locally as “Swan Lake”. This hole has been described as ‘One of the Best 50 Holes in Europe’. The climax to the round comes with the superb sequence of finishing holes designed around three lakes, culminating in the outstanding par 4 on the 18th hole played uphill into the prevailing wind.
The course was designed by renowned Golf Course Architect Mr. Paddy Merrigan whose work also included the Old Head of Kinsale, Slieve Russell and WoodenBridge, along with many others high quality golf courses.

Waterrock Golf Course is located on the outskirts of Midleton, just 15 minutes drive east of Cork City off the N25 (main Cork Waterford Road), 20 minutes drive from Cork Airport and only 5 minutes from Fota Golf Club

Water Rock is predominately a Green Fee, Society and Group welcoming golf course. Visitors are warmly welcomed each day of the week and as a family run facility it has the unique attribute of being available all Saturday and Sunday for bookings. Bookings and inquiries may be made by phone or email and our staff will be delighted to deal with any queries you may have. The course has developed into one of the most popular golf courses in Southern Ireland. Amenities include a luxurious club house with changing rooms, showers, and a bar and restaurant overlooking the putting green, 18th fairway and green and hillside of East Cork. You will not be disappointed!!!!!
