 Set
in beautiful surroundings on the banks of the Owenacurra River,
the course is strategically designed from its forward and back tees
to reward both the average and top class golfer. The design is fair
yet strategic, rewarding the thinking golfer while flattering the
average player with wide fairway landing areas.
The 18 hole, par 70, 6223 yard course comprises 5 par threes and
3 par fives in two loops. The signature hole is known locally as
'Swan lake', the 240 yard 12th par 3, plays over water to a contouring
green, Quite a challenge to all!
The course opened for play in September 1994 and was designed by
renowned Golf Course Architect, Mr. Patrick Merrigan whose work
includes Slieve Russell, Old Head of Kinsale and Wooden Bridge.
He employed international standards and construction specifications
including mildly contoured sand based greens and alternative tees
to accommodate all categories of players.
 Water
Rock was a new concept in golf courses being extremely high in quality,
without members and operating on a green fee only basis. A family
run business, it has developed into one of the most popular golf
courses in Southern Ireland. Amenities include a luxurious club
house with changing rooms, showers and full bar & restaurant,
overlooking the entire course.
